Goals

These are list of goals that I have had in my mind for some time. Some are simple and silly, while others are my 'Big Hairy Audacious Goals.' Time will only tell if I cross them off.  Either way, I think it best to share these goals because I firmly believe that, if you know where you're going,  most times the people you meet along the way will help you to get there safely and often times they'll show some great things along the way.

Its already long, but I suspect that I will always be adding to this list...

Places - US:

  • Live in New York City - But leave before it makes me hard.
  • Live in Northern California - But leave before it makes me soft.
  • Visit Chicago in the winter and see what the wind is all about.
  • Visit Chicago in the summer and see what the hype is all about.
  • Eat Crayfish in New Orleans during Marti Gras.
  • Go to a ACC, Big East, Big 10, Big 12, PAC 10 and SEC football game. 
  • Look for Jimmy Buffet in Key West, and if I can't find him, at least eat a cheeseburger.
  • Take a picture where my head is in scale with the Presidents' Heads at Mount Rushmore.
  • Visit Miami and listen to the whole "Born to Reign" album.
  • See if everything is actually bigger in Texas.
  • Go to Georgia where the peaches grow, they drink lemonade and speak real slow (the airport doesn't count).
  • Position myself facing south while seeing the Northern Lights.
  • Take a two-week road trip across the country and use Route 66.
  • Take a picture in front of the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign.
  • Witness a wedding an obscure Las Vegas Chapel.
  • Find out just how big the sky is in Montana. 
  • See the Grand Cannon.
  • Cross the Hoover Dam 
  • Walk the Brooklyn, Bridge. The Williamsburg Bridge, The Golden Gate Bridge.
  • Use the most obvious pick-up line on a gorgeous girl in Nashville.
  • Use the most obvious pick-up line on a gorgeous girl in Memphis.
  • See the Full House house and drive down that ridiculous street in San Francisco.

Places - International

  • Visit every continent: Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America, and South America.. I can live without antartica, but we'll keep it.
  • Swim in every Ocean: Indian, Atlantic and Pacific and I'll grab a wet suit for the Arctic and Southern.
  • Walk on the Great Wall of China.
  • Ride a bicycle in Amsterdam.
  • See the Egyptian Pyramids and take a picture that makes them look the size of my hand.
  • See the Leaning Tower of Pisa and make it look like a phallic symbol.
  • Scuba/snorkel the great barrier reef.
  • Climb to the top of the Vatican.
  • Go to a Mass in the Vatican.
  • See the Sistine Chapel.
  • Throw a coin into the Trevi Fountain.
  • Investigate how blue the water is in the Blue Grotto.
  • Drink wine in Chianti and quote Silence of the Lambs.
  • Drink a Guinness at the top the Sky Bar at Guinness Factory in Dublin.
  • (Not) Kiss the Blarney stone... visit Blarney?
  • Watch an Anamerican Film Dubbed in a Foreign Language in a Foreign Country.
  • Climb to the Top of the Duomo in Florence. 
  • Charter a boat in the Amalfi Coast.
  • Spend a night in Positano.
  • Climb to the Top of the Bell Towers in Florence.
  • Take the lift to the top of Anacapri, in Capri.
  • Take a picture with the Jesus statue in Rio de Janerio.
  • Visit The Armory, in Japan. Buy something there. 
  • Drink wine, listen to 'He Went to Paris' while looking at the Eifel Tower.
  • Stand at the foot of the worlds biggest mountains: Everest / K2.
  • Ride an elephant in Thailand. 
  • See the Aurora Borealis while in another country.
  • Hear Big Ben and get some tea. 
  • Walk the London Bridge.
  • Take an obvious picture with the Queen's Guard at Buckingham Palace.
  • Watch hot lava flow from an active volcano.
  • Go to an international/professional sporting event in England/Germany/Holland/India/Ireland/Italy/Paris.

Random Personal Goals:

  • Laugh, think and be moved to tears - every day.  
  • Get interviewed for a "10 Essentials" in GQ.
  • Be invited to a party and the Playboy Mansion.
  • Meet Jerry Rice  (again) and tell him about how starstruck and stammering I was when I met him in '95.
  • Be national television, even if just in the background.
  • Take time each week to reach-out to someone special that I have not spoken to in a while.
  • Be on live television. 
  • Be able to hold a handstand for 30 seconds, be able to take 30 steps (?) with my hands.
  • Do an handstand push-up.
  • Do a flag pole for over 5 seconds.
  • Spend at least one full minute per morning - stretching and breathing.
  • Take a hip-hop/b-boy dance class; or 10.
  • Have a sandwich/dish/meal named after me at an establishment that I do not own.
  • Grow old in age with someone but always be young at heart.
  • Find a place so special that I know I will never truly leave it (for long).

Business Things:

While the other goals are life term, check-them-off-as-I-can types, I am attempting to put time-tables on my business goals. Greg T. Doran is credited with being the first to say goals need to be S.M.A.R.T. (SpecificMeasurableAttainableRelevant and Time-sensitive). Here goes...
  • Employ my mother by the time I'm 30.
  • Get a Credit Card with reward miles by 2014.
  • Make over $100,000 in one year by 2016.
  • Have equity in a restaurant, bar, retail store or a restaurant/bar/retail store by age 2016.
  • Travel to a different state for work by 2014.
  • Travel to a different country for work by 2015.
  • Have multiple means of income by 2014.
  • Generate passive income through a product or design by 2015.
  • Eliminate my student loans in less than 20 years.
  • Mentor High School / College students on future planning, dreaming and goal setting by 2014.
  • Be paid to present my skill-set/knowledge to an audience by 2016.
  • Be a presenter on Ted.com by the time I'm 30.
  • Own an apartment in New York City by age 30.
